Title: Quoting Engineer

Position Summary:

The position is responsible for supporting the Pre-order process within Graham Engineering by working with internal/external resources to generate proposals, budgets, entering orders, creating order documentation, and kicking-off orders to the Project Execution team.  This position is fully accountable for the result of the quotation process and is the driver that delivers timely quotations to the customers and the GEC sales team.

Responsibilities and Priorities:

• Act as a point of contact for the quotation, order entry, and specification gathering phase of the project within GEC.
• Create quotations for customers and regional sales managers in a timely manner to meet company goals using internal and external resources to support your efforts.
• Develop accurate cost/price models for parts through complex machinery projects and systems.
• Keep clear and accurate records for each quotation assigned.
• Follow up on quotations with customers as directed by the manager.
• Manage sales administration activities including reviewing sales orders, terms, and change orders for contractual requirements.
• Ensure consistency in all entries & compliance with the data strategy to maximize future data analysis for quotations and orders.
• Collaborate with the GEC sales team to provide initial specifications at the kickoff meeting.
• Communicate with customers to clarify their order requirements prior to order hand-off to the project managers.
• Kick-off each order assigned to project management and project execution teams.
• Work closely with the Customer, Sales Team, Engineering, Operations, and others to define the project scope, budgets, and objectives in the quotation. Ensure that the scope, budget, and objectives as quoted are understood by the project team at the kick-off meeting.
• Identify and communicate internally any risks involved with each quotation from a process or financial perspective.
• Prepare, maintain and submit clear & concise activity/progress reports during the quotation, order, and specification gathering phase of the project.
• Apply lessons learned from recent orders and participate in after-action project reviews.
• Participate in continuous improvement, product development, product management, and marketing activities as assigned.
• All other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Education
• Minimum 2-Year Degree in Business, Financial, or Technical Field

Experience
• Minimum of 3-5 years working with customers, sales managers, and vendors.
• 2+ Years’ experience with generating technical proposals with budgets/pricing for machinery or engineered type products.
• Ability to review contracts and orders to ensure they match quotes provided.
• Solid technical background with an understanding and/or hands-on experience working in a manufacturing or technical environment.  Direct experience with plastic extruders, sheet lines, blow molding machinery, and auxiliary plastic machinery is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Excel and Word).
• Use and knowledge of Infor Visual ERP system and Smartviews is a plus.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications is a plus.
