Shuttle Technology - Performance, Efficiency, and Productivity
GEC Linear Shuttle machines are known for their efficient operation, robust design, and short cycle time. They are ideal for high-changeover job environments, allowing extremely rapid tool changes with quick setup, while supporting high output rates.

Key Features Include:
  • Robust clamps on horizontal rails
  • Proportional hydraulics for all critical machine movements
  • 28:1 L/D smooth and grooved bore extruders
  • Hydraulic deflashing system
  • Dual axis rear takeout – bottles exit one side only

Coextrusion
Our SBG-700 shuttle machines are ideal for coextrusion and the value-added enhancement of view stripes.  Willi Muller heads are used for 3-6 layer applications.

Typical applications include:

  • Personal care bottles with a thin outside wall of color or gloss
  • Food and juice products requiring barrier performance – up to six layers
  • Detergent bottles with virgin inner and outer layers and a post-consumer scrap middle layer
  • Motor oil bottles with a view stripe
  • Agricultural chemical bottles including a barrier layer

Quick Changeovers
GEC has engineered the SBG 700 shuttle machine to facilitate rapid changeovers between products. To start with, we have incorporated ball valves located close to molds, to shut off water circulation for mold change. The machine also features an air pressure system with drain valve to empty water from the molds prior to removal from the machine.

There are fixed cam rollers in the platens, which allow the molds to slide easily into place. These heavy-duty metal rollers support the full weight of the molds. With these rollers and quick bolt-on mold support arms, the molds are easily pushed to one side by hand, with no special tools. Quick disconnect blocks allow molds to be removed without removing water in and out hoses from the backing plates.

You should estimate 1.5—2 man hours per mold change.
