Shot Pot

The GEC SPM Series incorporates many improvements when compared to the standard technology of Recip Screw machine line systems.
Advantages of the Shot Pot vs. Reciprocating Screw
- Shot size requirement is independent of extruder
- Memory of plastic from screw tip typical of the Recip is eliminated
- Parison drop time advantage
- Screen Changer optional (not available on any Recip Series Extruder)

The SPM machine hydraulics, manifold design, head design, clamps, true quick exhaust, take away arms, cooling bed design and four platen design trimmers, have resulted in a machine line system that is unsurpassed in productivity and efficiency.
For the production of lightweight single trip dairy, water, juice, household chemical containers, f-style containers, wide mouth jars, and flower pots. |
| |
Benefits:
- Better heat conductivity
- Lighter assembly weight
- Safer
|
| |
Cooling Beds :
GEC engineered cooling beds are available in 8 and 12-foot lengths.
Cooling beds have large diameter and heavy-duty push rods, safety step crossovers and reverse directional capability.
*Length is determined by application and space availability |
| |
Benefits:
- Heavy duty cooling conveyor without cost penalty for length
- Easy clean-out with reverse directional capability
|
| |
Pick & Place
GEC has designed a container pick and place unit that is an integral part of the trimmer.
The unit mechanically transfers the containers from the cooling bed into the trimmer for de-flashing.
The unit utilizes ball screw technology and is driven and controlled electrically, while utilizing air for vacuum.
This unit is highly recommended for rectangular, oval and square containers that are not on a diagonal parting line.
|
| |
Benefits:
- Higher production efficiencies
- Fast trim and transfer speeds for high throughput
- More reliable container transfer to the trimmer buckets from the cooling conveyor
- Greater trimming accuracy
- Lower maintenance requirements

Trimmers
GEC designed and built trimmers are available in three different models (24 -18, 24 -24 and 24 -32).
The model number relates to the clearance distance between the tie bars for trim tooling mounting for the number of containers to be trimmed each index.
Containers can be de-flashed from one to six per index depending upon application.
The extra platen on the GEC trimmers will absorb the inertia from a container jam, so damage to trim tooling and chain stretch is virtually eliminated.
The GEC trimmers are the quietest and smoothest trimmers available in the market today.

| |
Benefits:
- Four platen design
- Large end carrier chain sprockets
- Unique carrier support
- Reverse direction capability
- Roller chain bucket carrier support
- Long dwell gear box with large cam followers
